The Gibbs Family migrated to Australia fron England in 1884 takimg up residence in Upton Street, Launceston in the State of Tasmania. The Family moved to Melbourne in 1885 before settling in Rainbow (Country Victoria). The Gibbs' family were very musical, playing music at various dances in the area. The piano has been in Gibbs' family homes for many decades and has provided much entertainment for both the family and community. In 1924 the family decided to move to the mallee region of
South Australia. 
Arthur Lewis (know as Lew) and his wife
Margret arrived on March 11th, travelling in a new Model T Ford (click photo)
and staying at the Loxton Hotel for the first night. Brothers Alf
and Arthur came by Harley Davidson motorbike and side-car. The
next day the family travelled to the farm of 2000 acres at Myrla
(Sec 22 Hd Moorook). There were no fences and only about 300
acres of land cleared. The house of 3 stone rooms with no roof
had recently burnt down.
The family of 4 boys and 1 girl - Alf, Arthur, Berwine, Austin and Keith all came to live in the area. (One daughter Jean was nursing in Nhill, Victoria).
Jean married Vic Bradley in 1931 and had two daughters - Joan and Joy.
Alf worked on the family farm until 1942 when he enlisted in the Australian Army and did not return to the area. Alf marrried Ida James in 1944 and had one child - Robert.
Arthur stayed farming and bought his own farm in 1938. Arthur married Audrey (known as Dolly) Greening in 1935 and had three sons 3 sons - Victor, Lewis and Colin.
Berwine married a school teacher Ivon McElroy in 1931, Ivon was the teacher at the Myrla school at that time. Berwine and Ivon had three children - Thelma, Barrie and Keith.
Austin a semi-invalid moved to the Salvation Army Home, Parklyn in Adelaide in the early 1960's.
Keith worked his father's farm, taking over the property in 1949 upon the death of his parents. Keith married Joyce Thamm in 1953 and had two children - John and Kerrin.
