Tractor History

This tractor was originally a model 40KA. Now don't get me wrong here, these old ladies were just great in their day, if you were working a 20 row seeder or a 14 disc plough. With farm acerages on the increase and larger machinery on the market, this old girl had a dilema on her hands, she simply lacked grunt.

So what does one do about it?  Major heart surgery will be required, the old power plant needs to be replaced with a much strong one.  Chamberlain had a great performer with the Super 70 & Super 90 tractors, powered by 3 cyl GM (Detroit) engines, were most reliable and never let you down.  So this is the way to go, but we need to show these young lads a thing or too, no 3cyl donk is going into this body, it's gonna receive a 6cyl, now that's grunt.

The surgeon was consulted and a 6 cyl 6-71 series GM (Detroit) diesel replaced the old 2cyl Kero.  Normally after major heart surgery one would expect some recovery time, not for this old lady, she was on a mission.  Those young lads ( Super 70 & Super 90 ) who wanted her sent to a retirement village because she was too old and weak were about to meet their fate.

The contest was about to begin, infact there was no contest as this old lady with new found grunt strutted her stuff, these young blokes fears were now realised as they were relegated down the order of merit.  With new found fire in the belly and confidence to match, others outside of the Chamberlain family became very nervous as they awaited similar fates.

However all was not plain sailing, as with most major operations of this kind there were side effects, nothing too major except from time to time the extra fire in the belly would cause her rear end to suffer from major Diarrhoea.  This was a small price to pay to keep such a fine old lady working, whom was destined for the "Life After".
